PMP – Project Management Professional – established by the Project Management Institute (PMI), is the global standard and most valued certification in project management. PMP demonstrates that you have the knowledge, skills and experience required for effectively leading and managing projects successfully.
PMI’s certifications are globally recognized in the industry, being the first organization to offer a comprehensive certification program for project managers. PMI offers 6 credentials currently for project managers of all skill and education levels. PMI certifications, developed by practitioners for a diverse and global audience, give the PMP certification holder a “technical and financial edge”. PMI certifications include the following: Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), Project Management Professional (PMP), Program Management Professional (PgMP), PMI Agile Certified Professional (PMI-ACP), PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP), and PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP).
The PMP certification exam consists of 200 multiple-choice questions, which have to be completed in four hours. The test covers 25 pretest questions, which are randomly placed throughout the test for the purpose of gathering statistical information on the performance of these questions in order to determine whether they may be used on future examinations. These 25 pretest items are not included in the pass/fail determination; hence the total score is based on 175 questions. All questions, simple or complex, carry the same weight. Each multiple-choice question has four options, out of which one correct answer is to be selected.
