Types Of Writing

Writings are the thoughts of a writer converted on paper. They are the mirror of the writer’s mind and reflect all his feelings. No doubt writing is an art, which is not possible for everyone to do in beautiful way. Most of the writers write when they have some inner feelings about their own self, their surroundings, the political and the economical situation or the facts related to their professions. Writings are the expression of a writer i.e.-e, happiness, guilt, sorrow, excitement, anger, frustration or grief.

Different types of writing are different ways of organizing the ideas in an effective manner to make the smooth going process while writing, and presenting them in a logical sequence so that they make sense. By choosing the right type of writing, the writer can make sure that he is expressing the feelings in a way that goes straight to the reader’s mind and heart. That is how a reader can indulge himself in the ideas and the thoughts of the writer. The right type of writing makes the words presentable in an impressive way. The tone, style and the way of expressing the idea also differs for different types of writings like in a business research article the main focus is on the evidences and the statistical data which makes the writing strong, while in a poetry writing the tone, beauty of words, selection of words and the rhythm matters a lot. Therefore, the basic idea behind is that the difference is in the purpose of the write up.
There are normally four main types of writing. They are Narrative writing, Descriptive writing, Expository writing, Persuasive writing. Narrative writing is basically, telling a story. Narrative Writing tells a personal or fictional experience or tells a story based on a real or imagined event. It is defined as the clear description of people, places, objects or events using appropriate details. An effective description will contain sufficient and valued details to communicate the complete sense of the subject being described. The third type of writing is expository writing. Expository writing is writing that is designed to convey information or explain what is difficult to understand. It is defined as presenting logics, reasons and explanations used with appropriate sequence of ideas. An effective expository writing should contain a main idea, supporting details and the final conclusion.
Persuasive writing attempts to convince the reader to accept a particular point of view or to take a specific action. It is defined a presenting reasons and examples which influence the action or thoughts of the reader. Effective persuasive writing requires a clearly stated opinion, supported reasons and sufficient examples that support the writer’s opinion.

A well-written piece of write up is the one in which the writer expresses his inner feelings and imaginations. It should attract the reader.
