Plagiarism is the unauthorized use or close imitation of the language, ideas, expressions or thoughts of another author and the representation of them as one’s own original work, as by not crediting the author. Plagiarism is a form of cheating, but many people don’t differentiate it. Plagiarism is an immoral crime, which cannot be justified anyhow. However, there is a very thin line between plagiarism and research. Plagiarism can be found in all spheres of life nowadays. Any field like journalism, music, art, research works, statistical data, colleges, universities, and news etc. this unethical curse is affecting the whole society. Plagiarism leaves long-lasting marks on the affected fields. Plagiarism is killing originality and dedication in any field, where it is been practicing

Different types

of plagiarism based on the intensity of plagiarism. The first type is Full Plagiarism. When Content has been presented, without any changes made to the language, thoughts, flow, and even punctuation is known as full plagiarism. It is the most serious type of plagiarism. The other type is partial plagiarism in which the content is taken from two or three sites and combines it. The third type of plagiarism is minimalistic plagiarism, in which the main idea or thought of some writer is taken and then translate it other words. There could be some more types of plagiarism like copy and paste plagiarism, word switch plagiarism, style plagiarism, metaphor plagiarism, and idea plagiarism.

One more kind of plagiarism

which is called unintentional plagiarism. Unintentional plagiarism is probably the most commonly used type of plagiarism. Plagiarism is known as unintentional plagiarism as in this case the person is unaware of the plagiarism and he commits this offense without realizing that there is something wrong. There are different causes of unintentional plagiarism. The very first is the ignorance about plagiarism. Most of the students are unaware of the true definition of the plagiarism.

There could be a huge number of students,

who are even unaware of the word “plagiarism”. Most students understand that copying an entire sentence, paragraph, or page without acknowledging the proper source constitutes plagiarism but they don’t know that copying the idea or style could also cause plagiarism. There is any number of students who know that copying someone others work is plagiarism but they don’t bother to copy from their friends or classmates because they don’t categorize this as plagiarism.

The biggest and most common cause

of plagiarism is the use of the internet when the biggest source of information is at the finger points, the chances of committing plagiarism. If a student is getting material from a plagiarized website how can he avoid plagiarism? Another cause of unintentional plagiarism is not having self-confidence. When students are not confident about their work, they feel shy to represent it and that’s how they are turned to plagiarism. To avoid unintentional plagiarism some serious steps are required to be taken. The topmost of these are spreading education and awareness about plagiarism. And then make an effective policy to control this crime.
