The Plagiarism Checker August 18, 2012

If you are a student working on your academic project or a professional writer writing content for the websites or blogs, you are in need of the plagiarism checker. Those who are involved in writing web content, articles, or academic assignments know they must do without plagiarism. It is a killer for the career of a professional writer and is also harmful to the students’ academic career. So you just need to avoid it as much as you can in each sentence or word you write.

Let us understand first what is meant by plagiarism. In layman terms, it is a writing offense that disqualifies the writing of anyone if it is suspected of having copied work. In other words, if you copy someone’s work and submit into your college or employer, or publish anywhere under your name, it would be considered plagiarism. It is a crime in the eyes of law and a legal procedure is strictly followed to punish the one suspected of submitting or publishing plagiarized work.

There are many types of plagiarism and each type is forbidden according to law. One type of plagiarism is the one in which the writer copies down somebody’s work without citing or mentioning the real writer’s name. In another form of plagiarism, the writer copies the work of someone but gives the citation for somebody else. It means not acknowledging the real author and instead referring the work to somebody else. The issue of plagiarism is serious for those working in the journalism field. It is because people trust only those sources which seem credible. If the public finds out that the work is originally not done by the journalist and has been copied from someone else’s source, it will seriously damage his reputation and career.

Self-plagiarism is also a form of plagiarism that is in practice by a few writers. It implies using one’s own previous work and copying it for reuse. It is also termed as recycling fraud and it is also a punishable offense. It is important to say that sometimes plagiarism is deliberately done by the author. However, in a few cases, the writer does not do it willingly but it happens to occur by chance. It occurs because of not properly citing the actual author in your writing or rephrasing somebody’s work by using most of the actual phrases of the real author.

Because of the seriousness of the plagiarism issue, it is necessary to use the plagiarism checker. You must use it on regular basis for protecting yourself from plagiarism. There is software available in the market, which is also known as the plagiarism checker. It helps you to detect the part of work that is suspected of plagiarism. It also makes it easier for you to do the rephrasing work if you think you have included most of the actual phrases of the cited material.
