MLA Citation History:

MLA is the most popular citation format that is basically used to add references in academic papers. It stands for Modern Language Association of America. MLA formats in 1983 by Aaron Marshall Elliott in the United States. MLA citation style basically includes the thesis related to arts, humanities, and also for scholarly articles on language and literature.

Format of MLA

MLA is a very widely used format, and if you are planning a research paper on literature, arts, or media you must understand its basic format as follow:

Introduction

On the left side of the paper, mention your full name,  instructor name (one or more) after that course name, and at last of introduction add the due date of assignment. This is the basis of all citation styles and an essential part of them.

Title of Paper

You should very care full while making a title of MLA, you can capitalize or italicize focused words of the title. It’s always in the middle of the page and a very concise statement.

Page header & Alignment

The page header is a crucial part of MLA citation it includes page number on the right side of each page, with the last name of the author. Each part of MLA alignment considers as important as the title or body.

Body

It’s a short concise paragraph that gives an overview of reference literature or book or any other source. The body must be error-free such as spell or grammar issues because it counts as a big mistake in a scholarly article.

Work Cited list

On a single page add all your cited list that you took to support your study or writing at the end of a research paper. Take care of these few things like Page numbers, Title, Spacing, and Alphabetical order of reference.
