Death rate of our world has increased enormously over last few decades. One major cause of this is the deadly disease cancer. It is a leading, only second to heart diseases cause of death worldwide, accounting for 7.6 million deaths in 2008. Cancer is an over growing disease specifically since the age of industrialization. It has more prevalent now because our society routinely uses tens of thousands of unregulated industrial chemicals with absolutely no idea of what affect they may have on our biology.

We are exposed to many accelerators from high power lines to contaminates to low level radiation which can work together to start cancerous growth. Cancer in its simplest form is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells in the body. It is a class of diseases characterized by out-of-control cell growth. Awareness of this fatal disease is more important than understanding any other common disease out there. Especially, since it is an environmental disease. 90-95 percent cancers are primarily a result of environmental factors and 5-10% due to genetics. Common environmental factors that contribute to cancer death include tobacco, diet and obesity,, infections, radiation, stress, lack of physical activity, and environmental pollutants. That means if not fully but to a certain extent we can have control over cancer. It is a matter of changing lifestyles. First, thing to do is spread awareness; this awareness can be spread through cancer articles. There are already a thousands of articles printed and published on this topic.

Cancer being so prevalent today spreading its knowledge and awareness is highly important. There are already many journals that are publishing information and new research findings about this deadly disease. Many cancer articles are written to inform people about the newly discovered causes of cancer. Of course, one cause of cancer is a genetic which we hardly have control over. Other than that to a certain extent most cancers can be controlled. First step to controlling cancer is spreading awareness through media, article readings, etc. It is important to understand that there are accelerator factors that affect people with different genetic makeup. Starting from societal environmental effects to personal life style, changing them little by little can really prevent cancer to a certain prevent. Starting with the depletion in the ozone layer which highly increases the risk of skin cancer, this cause is merely due to human carelessness. Ozone layer that protects us from damaging rays now has a hole in it because of chemical releases, such CFCs. Secondly, the chemical used in industries which are released without proper care and consideration of what its effect might be. Then there are radiation we are forced to go under such as security checks on airports, even over use of x-rays can contribute to this effect. These are things which need to be worked on a community level but also changing personal habits can help prevent cancer. Firstly, stress is a factor which we seem to ignore; smoking, alcohol, and bad eating habits also contribute to higher cancer risks.
